Looking to do a back country camping trip to ZNP this September. We are considering reserving site 2 (Deep Creek) or maybe trying for a walk in at site 1 (Maple Camp). It would only be for 1 night so we won't be carrying a whole lot but what is a reasonable time limit to drive out to Chaimberlain's Trail Head from the main park road and about how much time or mileage is it to site 1? Also is there any option for camping along the north fork of the Virgin River before entering the park? Thanks!|||I do not think that you understand the prevailing circumstances of your proposed adventure. I recommend that you undertake a day hike, unless you are very experienced and in good physical condition. In summer, I will hike 10-20 miles a day on firm trail. However, my winter hikes in snow is half of that. Spending an entire day in a stream to cover 16 miles sounds a bit uncomfortable for me, especially with a full pack of gear for overnight.
