Hi,

I am planning a vacation to visit Grand Canyon, Zion and LasVegas. I am travelling from Chicago to Phoneix and drive to Grand Canyon and back to Las Vega. I plan to stay in Vegas for 3-4 days and on one of the days, drive to Zion National Park.

Please advise:

Are kids (2 yr old) allowed if I plan to stay in Vegas and visit Casinos...anything that I can like a family thing in Vegas...?

Also, shall I carry a car seat or rental companies have car seats installed?

What are the places to visit in Vegas when with a family?

All help shall be highly appreciated...
Thanks!|||Car rental agencies do rent child seats but they can be expensive. Most charge $15.00 a day and they have to be returned to the original rental agency. If you rent a car in Phoenix and drop the car off in Vegas you will be charged an additional $15.00 and if damaged that can cost even more. You have to weigh the cost of renting one and the trouble and cost of bringing one on the plane.

For kids:
-Adventure Dome at Circus Circus
-MGM lion habitat
-Mandalay Bay Shark Reef
-M&M World next to the MGM Grand
-Stratosphere rides on top of the tower (not for small kids or weak hearts)
-Animatronics shows at Caesars Forum Shops
-Roller Coaster outside NYNY
-Bodies the exhiibit at the Luxor
-Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition at the Luxor
-Motion Rides at Excalibur
-Tournament of Kings at the Exaclibur
-Mac King Comedy Show at Harrahs
-Lance Burton Magic Show at Monte Carlo
-Many shows are kid friendly - check each show on this site for age restrictions.

Children are allowed to pass through the casinos with their parents but you can not stop to gamble. You can read this webpage and also check out the "must see" page for even more things to do with the kids.|||Despite what people might say, Vegas is very kids friendly. There are lots of things your 2 yr old will enjoy. Here are a few: The circus clowns at Circus Circus, the Falmingos at the Flamingo, the aquariums at Caesars palace and Silverton, the Lions at MGM Grand...just to name a few. Here is a complete list of things to do, including kid-friendly activities.

Anyone under 21 can walk through a casino floor but they are not allowed to stop or go near slot machines. You cannot gamble with your child next to you.

As far as a child car seat is concerned, you might be better off getting one from the car rental agency but if you want to save the extra money, bring your own.|||Kids are allowed to "pass through" all casino floor areas. Some resorts like The Wynn are NOT stroller friendly so you'll need to carry her. Others are okay with them. I have seen plenty of people with toddlers.

In fact about 10% of Las Vegas Visitors bring children with them. Sound like your trip is mostly using Vegas as Jumping off spot, so I see not problems with what your planning to do.

Here is a place to check out Family Friendly Activities. http://www.kidsinvegas.com

I would also recommend you bring your own child seat if you can.

Zions is a beautiful place to visit, I like it much better than the Grand Canyon.

Enjoy your trip... with all your plans it seems like you may be doing more traveling than vacationing.|||Never heard car rentals have child seats

Family things ------------------------------
Shark Reef Mandalay Bay
Lion Habitat MGM Grand (free small)
Sigfried Roys Secret Garden
Las Vegas Springs Preserve
Las Vegas Zoo

BTW Zions is a long drive back/forth|||Many many areas will not allow anyone under 21, baby in your arms or not, near the casino area at all. Not even to cross the area to get to restaurants or rooms, you will use alternate entrances.
Buy a small ice chest to house babies drinks and yours, its very dry and you will both need to drink twice as much as normal so you dont dehydrate. Bring a window shade too, to cut down on sunlight to the backseat where baby will be. Call the car rental places and ask about renting car seats, each will have their own policies. Some car models have them built in, I had one once, I dont know how common it is though.
Carry a few gallons of sealed water, with you at all times during those drives, if you break down you might need them.
You know, a dif vacation with a child at this age, who will be subjected to sitting for hours upon hours, will grow old, children dont look out the windows and appriciate the beauty as adults or even older kids do.
Places for your tike to enjoy in Vegas, cant think of one, thats geared for that age, McDonalds playlands arent really geared for that age group right?
You might want to consider purchasing those car seat covers, and metal clasp covers, the car will reach 120 plus inside when your out of it, and the seat and metal will blister the baby, so you need the metal clasp and seat cover.
Honestly, at this time of year, and all that driving, doesnt seem like a great vacation plan for any family with a 2 year old.
