Billy's right about the south rim. It can get crowded and tends to be very touristy. The north rim has views just as fine and isn't crowded, and often you can find it quiet and secluded. Of course, there are no shops or restaurants nearby- except for Jacob's Lake Inn (which is nice, btw)
Go to the north rim first- spend a day just enjoying it quietly, then go to the south rim the next day-if you really want to see all the visitor's centers and shops. And yeah, pass on the skywalk.
And you will want to advance book a horseback ride through bryce. It's a rough hike otherwise. I'd go for a minimum 2 hour ride- longer if you're in good shape and can handle it.
There are rides in zion too, but you don't need them. The narrows hike is gorgeous and level, the angel's view hike is challenging and treacherous. (no small children allowed)
At Zion, try staying at the Cliff Rose. It's just outside the gates, and it's a nice place, reasonable rates, great views. (avoid the "tourist junk shops" on that road, though. Most just sell cheap souvenirs. The one good place is in the same parking lot as the Cliff Rose- they sell nice native-made artwork at fair prices. especially high quality items. For the really best prices though, come to our reservation and buy from the artists themselves. )|||Bryce canyon, Zion, and Grand Canyon (go to the North Rim- it's just as stunning and you'll avoid all the tourists clogging up the south rim. And don't waste your money on the skywalk-it's a ripoff)
Take the horseback or mule ride through Bryce- it's the best way to see it
At Zion, bring waterproof sandals or watershoes and hike the narrows trail. Do it in the afternoon if you want a cooler hike-that side will be in the shade by then.
I live around that whole area. After the Grand Canyon, you can stop at Hoover dam on your way to vegas.|||Grand Canyon, LA, Yosemite|||Wow, seem you know a lot about good locations. Please suggest me your best three.
